A variety of medications are commonly used to treat ADHD: Strattera, stimulant, and other non-stimulant drugs. For ADHD, Strattera is often prescribed for the first few weeks of treatment before a dose reduction or an increase in dosage can be made. Strattera is often used with other medications to treat ADHD.
Other medications may be prescribed in addition to Strattera for the same symptoms. Atomoxetine (Strattera) is a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) that is used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other mental disorders. Atomoxetine belongs to a class of medications called selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (
). It works by increasing the levels of norepinephrine (a neurotransmitter) in the brain. It works by blocking the reuptake of norepinephrine, a neurotransmitter that regulates the levels of dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain. Mechanism of Action
